Hey everyone,
I’m really excited to sit down and write this one. We just shipped CloudCusp Mailer v1.0.6.16 on June 29, 2026, and honestly, this might be one of my favorite releases we’ve done in a while. It’s not just another patch with a couple of bug fixes. This version feels like we finally took a big step toward making email marketing automation feel natural and powerful at the same time.
Whether you’re running a small newsletter, managing a big e-commerce list, or building complex customer journeys, there’s something in here that’s going to make your life easier. I’ve been testing these features myself for the past few weeks, and I keep catching myself smiling at how smooth things feel now. So grab a coffee (or whatever you’re into), and let me walk you through what’s new, what’s improved, and why any of this actually matters.

The Star of the Show: Visual Journey Builder with 12 Brand-New Trigger Nodes
This is the one I’m most hyped about.
For the longest time, setting up automated campaigns in CloudCusp meant piecing together logic that sometimes felt more like writing code than marketing. Not anymore. The new Visual Journey Builder is a complete game-changer.
You can now drag and drop your entire customer journey on a beautiful canvas. But the real magic is in the 12 new trigger nodes we added. These aren’t your basic “someone opened an email” stuff (though those are still there and better than ever). We’ve added triggers that actually reflect how real businesses work today.
Some of my favorites include:
- Abandoned Cart Recovery with smart timing based on user behavior
- Post-Purchase Follow-up sequences that can branch based on order value
- Re-engagement for dormant subscribers using multiple signals
- Milestone-based triggers (anniversary, signup duration, etc.)
- External webhook triggers so you can hook into your CRM or custom apps
- And several more that let you combine behavioral, transactional, and time-based logic in ways that used to require custom development.
I spent a whole afternoon just playing with it. What used to take me an hour of careful setup now takes minutes, and I can actually see the logic flow. The builder is responsive too — works great on tablet if you’re reviewing campaigns on the go.
If you’ve ever felt limited by linear automation sequences, this update is going to feel liberating. It’s the kind of tool that makes you want to experiment more because the friction is finally gone.
Bounce Handling Now Plays Nice with EmailIt
We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear on this one.
Many of you use EmailIt as your sending provider (great choice, by the way). Until now, bounce processing wasn’t as seamless as we wanted it to be. That changes in v1.0.6.16.
We’ve built proper, native support for EmailIt’s bounce notifications. The plugin now automatically processes hard and soft bounces, categorizes them intelligently, and updates your contact status without you having to lift a finger. This means cleaner lists, better deliverability, and fewer headaches when you’re scaling up.
I tested this with a simulated list of 50k contacts and watched the bounce handling work in real time. The difference is night and day. If you’ve been manually cleaning bounce lists or dealing with delivery issues, this one fix alone might save you hours every month.
Dark Mode That Actually Sticks (And Looks Good)
Okay, this might seem small, but hear me out.
We’ve added full dark mode support across all admin pages. And it’s not one of those half-baked implementations that forgets half the UI elements.
The best part? It remembers your preference. Whether you prefer light mode during the day or live in dark mode like a true night owl, CloudCusp will respect that choice and persist it across sessions and devices (as long as you’re logged in, of course).
The design team put real effort into making the dark theme feel premium — nice contrast, easy on the eyes during those late-night campaign builds. I’ve been using it exclusively since we finalized it, and I don’t think I can go back.

Campaign Analytics Dashboard – Completely Redesigned
If you live in the analytics tab like I do, you’re going to love this.
The old dashboard was functional, but it felt… static. The new one is dynamic and actually feels real-time.
Key upgrades:
- Live updating stats (opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes) without constant page refreshes
- Per-link click heatmaps — yes, really. You can now see exactly which parts of your email people are clicking most
- Better segmentation visuals
- Improved export options
- Cleaner layout that doesn’t overwhelm you when you have multiple campaigns running
I ran a test campaign with this new dashboard and caught a link that was performing way better than others within the first couple hours. That kind of insight used to take days to surface. Now it’s right there.

Email Template Editor Just Got Superpowers
We bumped the merge tag support from “pretty good” to “wow, that’s comprehensive.”
The editor now handles over 40 merge tags, including powerful conditional content blocks. Want to show different content based on purchase history, location, or engagement level? You can do it right inside the visual editor without touching code (though you still can if you want to).
The conditional logic is intuitive — think if/else blocks that actually make sense to non-developers. This opens up so many personalization possibilities that I’m already seeing team members create way more targeted campaigns.
Performance That Scales
If you have big contact lists (we’re talking 500k+), you’re going to notice this one immediately.
We optimized several core database queries. The result? List loading times improved by about 35% on large datasets. That might not sound glamorous, but when you’re trying to segment or export a huge list, those seconds add up fast.
This wasn’t just throwing more resources at the problem — we went through the queries carefully and made them smarter. Big thanks to the backend team for grinding on this one.
Stronger GDPR Compliance Built In
Privacy matters, and we wanted to make compliance easier for everyone.
We’ve added a GDPR consent checkbox to all subscription forms, with proper double opt-in support. It’s flexible — you can customize the messaging and required fields while staying compliant.
This was one of those “better safe than sorry” improvements that also just feels right. Your subscribers get clearer options, and you get better peace of mind.
Important Bug Fixes
We also cleaned up some annoying issues that have been bugging users:
- Scheduled campaigns now properly respect your WordPress timezone settings. No more campaigns firing at weird hours because of server timezone mismatches.
- Fixed duplicate contact creation during CSV imports when emails had mixed case (like John@example.com vs john@example.com). Everything normalizes cleanly now.
- REST API rate limiting now correctly applies to webhook endpoints that were registered after initial plugin activation.
These might seem small, but they were causing real frustration for some users. Glad to have them behind us.
Security Update: Patched Reflected XSS Vulnerability
We take security seriously here at CloudCusp.
In this release, we patched a reflected XSS vulnerability in the template preview iframe’s sandbox attribute. It was a edge-case issue, but we don’t mess around with these things. Everything is locked down tighter now.
If you’re running an older version, please update as soon as you can.
Why We Build This Way
Every time we ship a new version, I like to reflect on why we do this. Email marketing gets a bad rap sometimes, but when done right, it’s still one of the most powerful, personal, and effective channels out there.
Our goal with CloudCusp has always been to give you enterprise-level power without the enterprise-level complexity (or price). This release continues that mission — more automation that feels human, better insights, stronger deliverability, and tools that actually get out of your way.
I’ve been in this space for years, and I still get excited when I see users doing creative things with the platform. Some of the journeys people are building now with the new visual builder are honestly inspiring.
Getting Started with v1.0.6.16
Updating is straightforward as always. Just head to your WordPress dashboard, check for updates, and let it run. As with any plugin update, we recommend backing up your site first (better safe than sorry).
After updating, I suggest spending some time in the new Journey Builder. Create a simple test flow first to get comfortable with the new triggers. You’ll probably find yourself wanting to rebuild some of your existing automations just because it’s so much nicer.
We’ve also updated the documentation with detailed guides for the new features. If you get stuck or have ideas, our support team is ready to help.
What’s Next?
We’re already cooking up some cool stuff for future releases. More integrations, even better mobile experiences, and some AI-assisted features that I think you’re going to love. But we’re not rushing anything — we’d rather ship solid, well-tested improvements than chase trends.
In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you. What do you think of the new visual builder? Are you using the dark mode yet? Drop a comment below or reach out on support. Your feedback genuinely shapes where we go next.
A huge thank you to everyone using CloudCusp Mailer. Whether you’re sending your first campaign or managing millions of emails, we appreciate you trusting us with your communication.
Here’s to better emails, stronger connections, and fewer headaches.
Stay awesome,
The CloudCusp Team
